Getting married in 2023?
We remember in our prayers and give thanks for all couples who are celebrating the sacrament of marriage this year.
Here are the guidelines for getting married in this parish.
-
couples should be attending Mass each Sunday as this is an important part of their marriage preparation.
-
civil law requires that a marriage licence be applied for well in advance from the Registrar of marriages. Without a licence, no marriage can take place.
-
the time of the marriage has been agreed by the couple with the priest.
Ten minutes grace is allowed, otherwise a marriage service will be conducted rather than a Nuptial Mass, especially when the priest has baptisms (on Saturdays) or even another wedding ceremony on the same day.
-
the hymns and musical choices will be agreed with the priest three months in advance.
-
photographers and other recording personnel should not delay the marriage ceremony and must not disrupt the marriage ceremony by moving around or making noise during the Mass or service.
-
only simple and discreet floral arrangements are permitted in the church and around, but not on, the altar table. Confetti is not allowed in the church or church grounds.
-
details of the Accord pre-marriage course can be obtained at www.accord-ni.co.uk. We strongly recommend all couples to complete the pre-marriage course provided by Accord.
-
If the couple do NOT want their marriage ceremony livestreamed please tell the priest at the wedding rehearsal.
